Earlier this month the North Yorkshire Moors Railway held its Railway in Wartime event.

A Le Maitre Large Mortar Hit with Report was loaded into a 1942 British 3.7 AA gun. The gun was prepared by staff from Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum at the Newbridge Depot in North Yorks. The annual event is a 3-day event filled with the camaraderie and community spirit of World War II. It is attended by around 25,000 people.

Le Maitre has a range of special effects ideal for recreating explosive simulations for TV, film and events. The Large Mortar Hit with Report used in this event produces an instantaneous large bright yellow fireball that reaches 20′ high by 10′ wide. Its noise levels reach up to 120dB, perfect for recreating wartime explosions.
